Jazz Blowers is a weekly gathering of wind players who have a passion for modern jazz. This friendly and informative group meets every Tuesday 7pm-9pm at The Hurworth Grange Community Centre, 41 Hurworth Road, Hurworth Place, Darlington, County Durham DL2 2BN.

Jazz Blowers is open to any brass and woodwind players regardless of ability who want to improve their improvising skills.

All music is provided along with the backing tracks you need for private practise.

Jazz Blowers have regular Jazz evenings using a live rhythm section (Piano,Bass & Drums) to back the soloists. These nights offer the participants the opportunity to play live and gain confidence in front of a friendly receptive audience.

Course leader Steve Bone has a very positive and encouraging outlook towards helping each musician develop their creative playing.

Steve has been a professional musician for 25 years, working in bands playing woodwind (saxophone,clarinet & flute).

Steve also works as music teacher in North Yorkshire, County Durham & Cleveland.

Steve teaches LCM grades 1-8 and the higher diploma levels on Sax, Clarinet & Flute.

Steve holds the following qualifications,

CTABRSM, Cert GSMD & LGSMD.

Each 2 hour session costs £9.00 which is payable termly in advance.

Groovin' High School Holiday Music Courses.

Groovin High is a school holiday music course for children aged from 6-20 years old. Now in it's 17th year, Groovin high runs four, three day courses every year at the Hurworth Grange in Hurworth village, Darlington. 

The aim of the course is to have fun as well as gaining confidence in a band situation. We welcome pupils from all schools/colleges regardless of ability (from beginners to high grades and diplomas), ages (4 to 20) or instrument (including vocals). Pupils will be placed into a band according to age and level of ability. A variety of styles will be rehearsed and then performed on the Wednesday evening concert including pop, rock, blues and jazz. Individual instrumental lessons with Steve Bone.

Individual 60 minute lessons are available with Steve in person, or via Skype / FaceTime for students playing saxophone, flute & clarinet.  If you have a real passion for playing, and want to improve your jazz  & theory knowledge, please get in touch.
